Joining Instructions

Delegates must have a good command of written and spoken English; Delegates will require suitable PPE (footwear, gloves and clothing); Delegates must be medically & physically fit to work in confined spaces and carry out manual handling (a self-certification questionnaire is to be completed on the course) if the practical element of the course is participated in.

Overview of Health & Safety and statutory regulations; Hazards Associated with Confined Spaces; Defining Confined Spaces Problem Atmospheres (Gases & Gas Monitoring); Risk Assessment & Generic Safe Systems of Work (ACOP L101); Introduction to Safety Rules & Procedures & Management arrangements; Roles & duties; First aid, medical & training requirements; Typical confined space equipment; User checks and assembly of Escape Breathing Apparatus (EBA); User checks and assembly of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); Practical entry exercise with gas monitor, harness, tripod, winch and EBA; Assessing, appointing, auditing & monitoring; Safety Documentation worked examples and scenarios & multiple choice question paper..

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the APCS Authorised Persons MOD training course, candidates will receive an accreditation from the APCS Approved Professional Confined Space scheme. This accreditation is recognized by the Ministry of Defence MOD and is a requirement for individuals who will be working as Authorised Persons in confined spaces within the MOD.##$$##Delegates are required to provide a passport photograph on the day of training for the production of ID cards. This is to ensure that the accreditation is linked to the correct individual and to maintain security and authenticity of the ID card.##$$##Candidates attending this course should be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigours of training. This is due to the nature of the work involved in confined spaces, which can be physically demanding and mentally challenging. It is important for delegates to be in good health to ensure their safety and the safety of others in the confined space..
