Who Should Attend?

Any person who requires the need to be trained in City & Guilds Level 2 Award Entrant Entry Controller Confined Spaces (Medium Risk) (6160 09) through the course of their normal working duties. This course is suitable for anyone working in the arena or sector.

Joining Instructions

No shorts allowed. Candidates must cover skin whilst entering into a confined space. Knee pads are recommended. Candidates may not be able to undertake the training if they do not bring the appropriate PPE. Candidates must also be a minimum age of 18 years old and be medically fit to wear breathing apparatus and able to enter a confined space. Candidates should generally not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / confined spaces, vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. Sunbelt Rentals are working with The Dyslexia Association to support delegates who may be dyslexic/neurodiverse. If you require additional support, please contact us prior to the training. All Low Risk and Medium Risk courses will be delivered using the 'hooded' style escape set. If you require training on a 'mask' style escape set then you will be required to be clean shaven and notify the training team in advance. Due to the nature of confined space work and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only the provision for the practical and knowledge assessments to be undertaken in English. City and Guilds do not permit interpreters for this course. The training provider reserves the right to exclude unsuitable delegates from training courses.

Course Agenda

Day 1 - Introduction to confined spaces and the associated risks - Legislation and regulations relating to confined spaces - Roles and responsibilities of an entrant and entry controller - Hazard identification and risk assessment - Personal protective equipment PPE and its proper use - Emergency procedures and rescue techniques

Day 2 - Entry permits and their importance - Safe entry and exit procedures - Atmospheric testing and monitoring - Communication and teamwork in confined spaces - Practical exercises for entering and controlling a confined space - Written assessment to test knowledge and understanding

Assessment - Written assessment on day 2 - Practical assessment throughout the course - Successful candidates will receive a City & Guilds certificate - Refresher training recommended every 3 years

Note - This is a 2-day course with a mix of theory and practical exercises - Prior knowledge of confined spaces is not required - Suitable for those who will be entering and controlling medium risk confined spaces - Participants must be physically fit and able to wear PPE - Course can be tailored to specific workplace requirements..
