Course Information
To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of confined spaces, the associated legislation, approved code of practice (ACOP), dangers associated with confined spaces and the ability to enter, work and leave them safely by horizontal and/or vertical entry.
Who Should Attend?
This course is for persons who need to understand the risks associated with Low /Medium risk confined spaces and may plan, enter, work in and exit confined spaces using Escape Set breathing apparatus (open or closed circuit).
Joining Instructions
What you will need to bring: Personal Protective Equipment (confined spaces only) hard hat, gloves, protective footwear and long sleeve coveralls. Delegates will not be able to take part in the practical training without suitable PPE., Any previous awards/certification - Any certification in relation to previous or similar courses attended. Proof of Identity - Delegate to provide proof of identity (driving license, passport,national identity card) which states the delegates full name. Delegates must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the course start website arrivals may be refused for training. If delegates are held up in traffic, please call 0800 000 346 so we can make the trainer aware. On arrival delegates may be issued with a tablet to use throughout the course to access our confined space manual. Delegates can also download our confined space manual onto their devices to refer to before or after the course by clicking on the link below. Confined space Manual To ensure the safe and efficient operation of breathing apparatus all delegates attending courses which involves the use of tight fitting respiratory protective equipment .website self-contained breathing apparatus, must be clean shaven each day. This also includes removing items such as facial piercings, which may prevent an adequate face-to-face mask seal. Trimmed moustaches / goatee beards maybe permitted at the discretion of the instructor and providing they do not interfere with the operation of the demand or exhalation valve on the face mask.
Course Agenda
At the end of the course, delegates will be able to identify confined spaces in the workplace and understand relevant regulations and expectations for individuals and organizations. They will also learn how to conduct risk assessments according to organizational criteria.
Delegates will be able to identify and select appropriate personal protective equipment PPE and complete a before-use inspection, following manufacturer guidelines. They will also learn how to identify and control hazards found within confined spaces.
During the course, delegates will learn how to safely enter a confined space using appropriate control measures and complete a working task. They will also be trained on how to exit a confined space safely.
The course will cover topics such as confined space identification, regulations and expectations, risk assessments, PPE selection and inspection, hazard identification and control, safe entry and exit procedures. Delegates will also have the opportunity to practice these skills in a simulated confined space environment.
