Course Information

To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of confined spaces, the associated legislation, approved code of practice (ACOP), dangers associated with confined spaces and the ability to enter, work and leave them safely by horizontal and/or vertical entry.

Who Should Attend?

This course is for persons who need to understand the risks associated with Medium risk confined spaces and may plan, enter, work in and exit confined spaces using Escape Set breathing apparatus (open or closed circuit).

Joining Instructions

Delegates need to know: Parking - Parking is available on site. Start time: Please can delegates ensure they arrive at least 5 minutes before the start time. Delegates will not be admitted to the venue until after 08:30. Late arrivals: Please notify us on 01179 711 892 if you are running late. Delegates who arrive 30 minutes after the course has started may not be allowed to attend the course, this is at the trainers discretion. Refreshments: Tea/Coffee/squash/water is provided Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please feel free to bring a packed lunch. There is a cafe opposite our venue where you can pre-order for collection and a Co-Op nearby. A minimum of 30 mins will be provided Dress: We advise delegates to wear clothes they are comfortable sitting in, delegates will be allocated time to change into their PPE during the day. Reasonable Adjustments: Please notify us if an individual has specific requirements when learning. Additional measures can be put in place if required e.g., theory questions read out verbally, help with reading. Language: The course is conducted in English, delegates will need to have a reasonable understanding of the English language, the course and exam is not permitted in any other language and translation aids are not permitted. How you will be assessed and certificated: Assessments: At the end of the course there is a theory test, delegates will also be assessed on their competency throughout the course. Certification: As of January 2022 delegates will receive a digital PDF of their certificate with the delegates photo on. Please allow 7-10 working days for certification to be issued and emailed.

Course Agenda

This 1-day course covers the identification of confined spaces in the workplace and relevant regulations. It also includes risk assessments, PPE selection and inspection, and control of hazards. Participants will learn how to safely enter and exit confined spaces and complete tasks.

The training will provide a clear understanding of individual and organizational responsibilities in confined spaces. It will cover the use of escape breathing apparatus and appropriate control measures. Practical exercises and case studies will be used to reinforce learning.

Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course. The training will be conducted by experienced instructors and will include interactive discussions and hands-on activities. Participants will also learn about emergency procedures and rescue techniques.

Additional topics covered may include confined space entry permits, atmospheric testing, and emergency response plans. The course may also cover topics such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in confined spaces. Participants will leave the course with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively work in confined spaces..
